David Richard Gallery exhibits Billy Al Bengston

Billy Al Bengston, Lala, 1992, Acrylic on canvas, 24" x 28"

The David Richard Gallery in Santa Fe continues its exploration of the glowing and varied Los Angeles artistic scene since the 1960s, presenting three solo exhibitions of Billy Al Bengston, Fred Eversley and Doug Edge, along with a selection of 1960s and 1970s works by Judy Chicago. The Bengston exhibition focuses on a cycle of paintings of the mid 1990s, while the Evesley and Edge exhibitions are more like a fifty-years inquiry on their sculpture work. The Judy Chicago exhibition titled “ReViewing PowerPlay” which took place earlier this summer, gathered heroic paintings from the PowerPlay series; the first she produced after moving to New Mexico. Billy Al Bengston, born in 1934, is an American sculptor who lived and worked in Venice, California. He studied in the Los Angeles City College (1952), the California College of Arts & Crafts in Oakland (1955) and the Otis Art Institute (1956).
